ENGAGE leadership series-Community Service Group In-Person
The ENGAGE Alumni group proposes a vibrant community art project centered on the creation of 1,000 origami cranes, inspired by the Japanese tradition that symbolizes wishes for health, longevity, and happiness. This initiative aims to unite residents of all ages in a shared creative endeavor, promoting community engagement and cultural appreciation.
Project Highlights:
- Workshops: Two free, all-ages origami workshops hosted at the West Allis Public Library and Senior Center, fostering accessibility and collaboration.
- Interactive Display: A mobile of 1,000 cranes will be assembled and showcased in various public locations and businesses across West Allis, rotating monthly for one year to maximize visibility and impact.
- Community Engagement: A City of West Allis Facebook page will invite participants to share photos of their cranes and express their wishes for their neighbors and community, enhancing digital and in-person connection.
- Sustainability: Optional donations will be accepted to support future community art projects, potentially through the new West Allis Arts Council.
This project not only brings a visually stunning art piece to the community but also embodies shared aspirations and a spirit of togetherness, making West Allis a city enriched by creativity and unity.
